A few weeks ago I finally gathered the energy to write a letter to the faculty of HSPS to which they have just responded. Their response carefully avoided any actual engagement with my criticism and basically urged me to express my critiques through non-written, less formal channels. So that was, of course, to be expected but it is still disappointing. Especially when there is so much discussion online about the increasingly evident issues of politically biased scholarship within the humanities and social sciences.

So here is a slightly edited version of my letter, it might be interesting for some people or it could motivate others to reach out to their own departments at uni or maybe not, but I thought I’d share anyways:

“To whom it may concern,

My name is Nora Schultz, I will be a second-year HSPS student this year, and I am contacting you in relation to a document that has been circulating online amongst students about the so-called ‘decolonisation’ of the HSPS curriculum.
